Privacy Policy
What we collect
- Files you upload (audio recordings, notation files, scans) and the outputs we generate from them. These are the only purpose of the Service and are stored temporarily.
- Payment confirmation from PayPal: a transaction identifier, amount, and the email address PayPal shares with us. We never receive card numbers or bank details.
- Technical data needed to run and protect the Service: IP address, browser type, timestamps and error logs, kept for a short period.
- Usage statistics we keep ourselves, without any third-party analytics service: which features are used (for example "song separated", "lead sheet exported"), when, and the approximate location of the visitor (country, region and city derived from the IP address). Instead of the IP address we store a device identifier that changes every day, so visits cannot be linked across days or to a person.
- Feedback you send us through the feedback form: your name, email address, and if you choose to give them, your phone number, your location and your message. We use them only to reply to you.
We do not require an account, do not run advertising trackers, and do not sell personal data.
How we use it
- To process your files and deliver the outputs you asked for.
- To take payment, issue refunds and keep the accounting records the law requires.
- To keep the Service secure, prevent abuse and fix errors.
We do not use your music to train machine-learning models, and we do not listen to, publish or share it. Processing is automated.
Retention
Uploaded files and outputs are deleted automatically according to the option you choose: immediately after your first download, one hour, or 24 hours after processing finishes. You can delete a job earlier at any time. Payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires. Technical logs are kept for up to 30 days. Usage statistics contain no IP addresses and are kept to improve the Service. Feedback messages are kept until your request is resolved and for up to two years afterwards, or deleted earlier on request.
Where processing happens and who we share with
Processing happens on servers we operate (location: the Province of Ontario, Canada, unless stated otherwise on the website). We share data only with PayPal (payment), our hosting provider (infrastructure), and authorities when legally required. We do not transfer your files to any third-party AI service.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or CCPA) you may have rights to access, correct, delete or export your personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority. Because we keep almost nothing beyond the retention window, the fastest route is usually to delete the job yourself; for anything else email support@riverthought.com.
Cookies and local storage
The studio stores a small identifier for your current job in your browser's local storage so you can resume after a reload. We set no advertising or cross-site cookies.
Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We will post changes on this page with a new date.
